To clean a custom polyethylene cutting board, it is important to consider a few criteria and use the right products. Here’s the best way to clean a cutting board:

Cutting boards are an essential element in every kitchen, whether commercial or residential. Made from a variety of materials, from wood to composite, finding a design that suits your style has never been easier. However, like all kitchen utensils, bacterial growth is a major concern. So, with so many different materials used, how can you ensure you follow the best practices for disinfecting, cleaning, and maintaining the cornerstone of your kitchen?

How to clean a plastic cutting board:

Start by cleaning all visible or loose food particles using a cloth, sponge, or brush with warm soapy water. After cleaning, make sure your custom polyethylene cutting board is ready to use. Check for any notches or deep scars left by knife cuts.

Many damaged cutting boards can be preserved from minor surface damage by using a steel scrub pad or a wire brush to scrape off plastic particles created by knife marks. You can achieve an even smoother finish by using a belt sander. Just make sure to wear safety equipment when using any type of machinery. After cleaning and ensuring that the board is safe to use, you’ll want to disinfect any bacteria that you might have missed.

Easy cleaning for the cutting board:

You certainly know that a custom polyethylene cutting board is an excellent way to store and organize all your food and kitchen items. White cutting boards are nice because they can be wiped clean with water and soap after use. Scrape off food particles and rinse with warm water. Rinse and dry afterward. However, this is not the best way to clean a cutting board.

Disinfect the polyethylene cutting board by soaking it in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 10 minutes. After soaking, wash the cutting board with water and soap. Another way to disinfect the cutting board is by placing it in the dishwasher. For more effective disinfection, put the cutting board in the dishwasher and run it with detergent.

Clean your board with oil:

The problem with using oil to clean your board is that you have to use enough oil to keep it clean. However, do not use too much oil, as it will remove the board’s flavor. So, if you use too much, the oil will eventually settle on the board, and you’ll end up with a dull surface that needs to be “re-oiled” to keep it clean. If you use too little, the board will remain with a dirty surface that doesn’t clean well.

You know you’re at the beach when the smell of vinegar fills the air. For those who have been cooking fish, the smell of vinegar can mean a lot of work to get rid of the fish odor from their hands. If you’re using a polyethylene board, you can use vinegar to help eliminate any fish odor that may be present.
